Benton at 2 Weeks

Our sweet baby boy is 2 weeks old!  He is such a calm, quiet love bug!  He really only cries when he is hungry.  I feel like he wants to eat all day!  It is fine with me because he has been sleeping VERY good at night.  We swaddle him, and he normally only wakes up one time to eat during the night.  Of course, I'm still up pumping every few hours, but we certainly cannot complain.  I'm really not sure how much he is eating because he is breastfeeding. 

His umbilical cord came off afer 12 days, so he got his first real bath!  We took a lot more pictures than what I have below, but I forgot to cover his wee wee! 

 

We've been doing our  best to try putting him down to sleep.  We held Haisley for every nap she took until she was about six months.  I'm not gonna lie though, when Haisley is at school, I snuggle him the whole time!  These babies grow up too fast not to enjoy cuddling! 

 

 

He cocks his head to the side to sleep.  So precious!  

 

I feel like he has really good control of his eyes.  He doesn't have googly newborn eyes like I remember Haisley having.  We love you sweet baby boy more than words can say! 

 

Haisley is 21 Months!

Haisley Grace is 21 Months! 

I feel like I am being redundant sharing about Haisley every month.  She is still a bundle of energy and brings so much joy and laughter to our lives.  The only major change this month is that Haisley is a BIG sister!!  She loves to give Benton hugs and kisses.  She has only gotten in trouble a few times for not being as gentle as she should be.  Truth be told, she really doesn't give him that much attention. 

Some funny things Haisley has said lately:

The other day we had gone to Bed, Bath, & Beyond and she was being incredibly fussy.  When we got in the car, I said, "Haisley, why were you so fussy in there?"  Her response was, "I apologize."  Mark and I just looked at each other are died laughing!

We were leaving Wal-Mart today and she said, "I think a bite to eat." (I think I will have a bite to eat)

Anytime I am holding Benton she says, "Daddy hold her."  She wants Mark to hold Benton, but she doesn't quite understand gender yet!

Haisley is starting to count, she does pretty good until six (or sick) as she calls it.  She still is clueless about colors, which is shocking because I talk about colors with her all the time. 



We let her decorate some cupcakes like pumpkins and she LOVED it!  The eating part mainly!

You might notice that in several of these pictures she is wearing her Aubie shirt and Auburn pants.  What can we say...we have an Auburn girl who loves everything Auburn.  She loves Aubie, only from afar, and loves saying War Eagle, Hey!

 

We even went to Autumn Nights downtown.  After the pep rally, we walked to Dudley Hall to see the carved pumpkins! 

 

We love you precious girl!!  You make us laugh!

 

 

Benton's First Week

Our precious little guy has already been with us for a week.  I asked Mark what he wanted to say about Benton's first week and his response was that it went by way too fast!  We are trying to savor each second with our two blessings.  Overall, we have had a smooth transition going from one baby to two.  From what we can tell, Benton's personality is a bit more laid back than Haisley.  He responds better to being put down than Haisley too!  Haisley is adjusting to sharing the attention and is the best big sister!  She loves to hold him and tease him with her paci. 
By the time we left the hospital, Benton's weight was down to 8lb, 1 oz.  By the time we went back two days later, he was back up to 8lb 5 oz.  Nursing is definately going better this time than with Haisley.  We have been trying to get out and about more this time too since we have Haisley who wants to be on the go all the time.  We played at McDonalds, had a picnic on campus, cooked out at Aunt Amanda's house.

Benton's Arrival!

At 38 weeks pregnant, I was 3 cm and 70 % effaced.  At 39 weeks, I was 3 (almost 4 cm) and 80% effaced.  It was at our 39 week appointment that Dr. Alverson decided that we wouldn't induce the next day (Oct 10), but would rather wait until October 15 so that he would be on call.  Well the Lord had other plans.  We welcomed Benton William Burnette on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 2:25 pm.  Our precious baby boy weighed 8 lbs, 7.5 oz. and was 21 inches long. 
I was induced with our sweet Haisley and thought that I would have to be with Benton as well.  As mentioned in previous post, I have had contractions, off and on, for about a month.  I thought, here we go again, when I woke up on Sunday at 4:30am with contractions.  It didn't take long for me to realize that this was different and that we might be meeting our second angel baby soon.  Nobody was packed and I definately did not feel prepared to have this love bug.  I called my sweet Amanda to come over and help with Haisley while we tried to get it together.  Of course she came right over and got everything organized and even took Haisley to Aunt Ashley's house...another life savor.  It was so nice not worrying about my baby all day.  I knew she was in great hands.  I tried to take my time getting ready, I didn't want to get to the hospital and be sent home.  My contractions were about 3 minutes apart and there was no staying home another second.  We hauled it to the hospital and I was 5 cm, 90% and was told I could definately stay!  Even better news was that it would only be about an hour before they could give me the epidural.  We had a very easy delivery and we are blessed beyond measure to have two healthy precious babies.
